How to replce Macbook Pro 2019 16" lcd screen

Replacing the broken LCD screen on a MacBook Pro A2141 (16-inch, 2019) requires careful disassembly and proper tools. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the process:

 

Tools & Parts Needed:

Replacement LCD screen (compatible with A2141)

 

P5 Pentalobe screwdriver (for bottom case screws)

 

T3 Torx screwdriver (for display screws)

 

Spudger or plastic pry tool

 

Phillips screwdriver

 

Anti-static wrist strap (recommended)

 

Suction handle (optional, for screen removal)

 

Adhesive strips (if replacing bezel adhesive)

 

Step-by-Step Replacement Guide:

1. Power Down & Disconnect Battery

Shut down your MacBook.

 

Unplug all cables and peripherals.

 

2. Remove Bottom Case

Use a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the 10 screws on the bottom case (some are longer, keep track of their positions).

 

Gently lift the bottom case using a plastic pry tool.

 

3. Disconnect Battery

Locate the battery connector near the trackpad.

 

Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the battery to avoid short circuits.

 

4. Remove Display Assembly

Locate the display cable covers near the hinges (secured with T3 Torx screws).

 

Remove the screws and carefully lift the covers.

 

Disconnect the display cables (video and touch data cables) using a spudger.

 

Unscrew the hinge screws (6 in total, T3 Torx) holding the display to the top case.

 

Lift the display assembly away from the MacBook.

 

5. Separate LCD from Lid

The LCD is glued to the lid with adhesive.

 

Use a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the adhesive around the edges.

 

Insert a thin plastic card or pry tool to carefully separate the LCD from the lid.

 

Once loose, disconnect the touch data cable (if present) and remove the broken LCD.

 

6. Install New LCD Screen

Align the new LCD and reconnect the touch data cable (if applicable).

 

Apply new adhesive strips around the edges (if needed).

 

Press the screen firmly into place.

 

7. Reassemble the MacBook

Snap the bottom case back and screw in all P5 screws.

Step-by-Step MacBook Air M2 (2023) Screen Replacement Guide

1. Power Down & Prepare

Shut down your MacBook.

 

Disconnect all cables and power sources.

 

Place the MacBook on a clean, soft surface (screen side down).

 

2. Remove Bottom Case Screws

Use a P5 Pentalobe screwdriver to remove the six bottom case screws.

 

Note: Two screws near the hinge are longer—keep track of screw lengths.

 

3. Open the Bottom Case

Gently lift the bottom case using a plastic pry tool.

 

Disconnect the battery to prevent short circuits:

 

Locate the battery connector near the trackpad.

 

Use a spudger to carefully disconnect it.

 

4. Remove Display Assembly

Locate the display cable connectors (near the hinge area).

 

Use a spudger to disconnect:

 

Display flex cable

 

Touch ID cable (if applicable)

 

Camera cable (if present)

 

Remove the hinge screws (Y000 Phillips screwdriver) securing the display.

 

Lift the display assembly away from the base.

 

5. Remove the Broken Screen

Lay the display face down on a microfiber cloth.

 

Remove the metal brackets around the screen (if any).

 

Use a heat gun/hair dryer to soften adhesive around the edges (if the screen is glued).

 

Carefully lift the screen using a suction handle.

 

Disconnect any remaining cables (backlight, touch sensor, etc.).

 

6. Install the New Screen

Connect the new screen’s cables (align carefully).

 

Secure the screen with adhesive or screws (depending on the replacement model).

 

Reattach metal brackets if removed.

 

7. Reassemble the MacBook

Reconnect the display cables to the logic board.

 

Reattach the display hinges and tighten screws.

 

Reconnect the battery.

 

Snap the bottom case back and screw it in (remember longer screws near the hinge).

 

8. Test the New Screen

Power on the MacBook and check:

 

Display brightness & colors

 

Touch ID (if applicable)

 

Webcam & microphone functionality
