MacBook air water damage repair and back light ic repair in Hamilton new Zealand at applefix hamilton

This was difficult repair we have done last week at ApplefixHamilton on macbook air water damage repair and back light ic repair . When we look at the water damaged area it does not look promising that if it can be fixed. See picture below.

Before cleaning the water damaged Macbook logic board we have to test it. So that we can concentrate on the water damaged area. if it is cleaned before any test you might not physically see which area is most effected. Upon testing we find out that processor and bios chip is not damaged and there are few shorts on the few places of the board. Next this is to clean the logic board in a good ultrasonic machine with right composition of logic board cleaning fluid at right temperature, Macbook air water damage repair and back light ic repair is not a DIY repair. It involves way more that using ultrasonic machines and re-flow machines. Because once the macbook logic board is cleaning you will still have short on the board . Which you can only figure out if you can read the schematic diagram and board view reading knowledge. So we cleaned the macbook logic board in ultrasonic machine.

Macbook water damaged logic board came out from ultrasonic machine shinning but it didn’t turn on as there was short on the board Checked and identified shorted lines on the logic board and there was short on the back light ic line. If there is a short on macbook back light ic line it doesn’t mean that ic is short you have to perform different methods to find out where the problem is? We decided to clean the macbook logic board one more time in ultrasonic machine as the short was coming from back light ic. After liquid damage the liquid or water accumulate under ic and form a green corrosion which is conductive and create short.  After one more clean we decided to re-flow the macbook logic board. Reflow is a process where you set the temperature cycle of re-flow oven so that any cold or broken solder joint on logic board restructured.
